outside . . .

at last . . . . . we are moved . . . . . hurray
the last boxes are unpacked
homes have been found for every little thing
we are slowly but surely settling in
these deliciously sunshiny days have found us
in our new garden space, tucked into the hill
digging & clearing & pruning
much cutting of grass and pulling of weeds
we have uncovered quirky steps and hidden corners
forgotten plants & neglected flowers
fallen down walls & buried treasures
we are as busy as the bees, planning & planting
and filling our wee space with happiness

and . . . looking forward.

thank you for stopping by your words mean so much
have lifted my spirits so, when the going got tough

A Scottish thistle for a bride to be.

What a lovely design job this was, working with a Bride -to-be.
Coming up with a design for her wedding invitations.
Being Scottish she wanted to incorporate the Scottish thistle
and used the thistle colours in her wedding theme .

I wanted to create an emblem for them
including both the bride & grooms name.

I loved working on this design. The form of the thistle
was a good one to play around with design wise.
I'm so pleased with the results
and thankfully so were my clients too!

I did get quite carried away and came up with lots of design options.
It's a design I will most definitely re-visit
to work up into something more.

Here's wishing the Bride & Groom a wonderful wedding day!

times they are a changing . . . .

With the coming of these fresh spring days
i have found myself busy as a bee, a cleaning & a sorting . . .
i have been dusting down my thoughts, my hopes, my dreams
these are days for budding new ideas, new imaginings, i have been planning & designing our new wee home
painting & re-vamping, giving things a new lease of life
i really dont like throwing things away,
i am a bit of a scavenger too, some of my favourite
places are second hand stores. a treasure found costing very little
gives me so much more joy than something newly bought
my precious paints and pencils are all sadly packed away
my unfinished paintings shall have to wait (and there are so many!)
i can't quite concentrate in such upheaval & mayhem
so i shall succumb to these times of change,
another child just having flown the nest
after so many years i shall feel the empty spaces

to these times of new beginningsmy lovely niece now such a proud mom
of the tiniest miracle baby girl just 1lb 3oz,

i am counting down the days (9 sleeps to go)
until we have our new home to settle into
until life can quietly tick back into place again

cairnsmore of fleet . . hidden treasures

remembering adventures from last summer . . .
when we followed signs up into heathery hillson to the beautiful cairnsmore of fleet

hoping to discover hidden carvings by matt baker
we mused over poetic clues to find the treasures

clues such as
"before the river is bridged, don't get your feet wet "

or "twixt viaduct & forest, we lived here once "(see the sculpted face tucked away?)
the ancient ruin of the medieval township Cullendoch

feral goats, pegrines, dragonflies & grouse

bog-cotton, sundews, sphagnam mossso much to see there on the
scottish natural heritage site
