summery things . . .

summery holidays (even without very much sun)
* mean lots of catching up with friends & family painting a picture of my own for a local gallery competition
visiting the glasgow girls exhibition
and discovering such detailed works by annie french

a trip to edinburgh, & the national gallery of scotland
to sigh over saint bride by scottish artist john duncan
trying my hand at some stone art on an evening beachy stroll
and attempting some driftwood hearts
i have so many things i want to share
but they shall have to wait till next time
i do hope you are enjoying these summer days x

  1. What a beautiful illustration, we love creating with pebbles on the beach like that as a family, but never find much in the way of interesting driftwood.

Don't worry about the sun...you could be a cooked chicken like me at over 100 here! Be careful what you ask for! : )

  8. Beautiful, beautiful hare Ruthie...yes, we need to see more of YOUR beautiful work too! I love the driftwood heart (I'm a collector of sea washed bits too), and the stone sculpture reminds me of Andy Goldsworthy's work...I've got a half-thought-out, muddled-up post floating around in my head about things like that, and I can't seem to get it into any kind of order to actually write it. Maybe now the school holidays are over I'll be able to sit and think about it and finally write a post!

  11. Your stone and driftwood art looks great! I love stone and wood - theres something about them that kind of connects through time, place and spirit...
I do love John Duncan... The first painting of his I came across was 'Riders of the Sidhe' printed in a dusty old 1922 Bibby's annual. I would so love to see his paintings in the flesh - most especially that one!

  13. Hi Ruthie,

You always manage to post such beautiful piccy's which make me yearn even more for Scotland. I don't know if I told you this before, but my ancestry includes being part of clan McPhearson. I love being part Scotch. Enjoy the rest of the week.

    Hugs,
    Meri
